Positive Experience with Shelly Plus Uni and Promatic 4

I wanted to share my positive experience integrating the Shelly Plus Uni with the Hörmann Promatic 4 garage door controller. After reading several posts about potential issues, I was pleasantly surprised by how seamless the setup was for me. Here’s what worked for me:

The Shelly Plus Uni (Gen 2) is perfect for this setup because it operates on 9-28 V DC and has two potential-free relays (SSD relays). The Promatic 4’s control contacts are located under a small flap on the narrow side of the housing, so there’s no need to disassemble anything. I found plenty of space to securely place the Shelly module without needing to fasten it. I did isolate the contacts to prevent any short circuits, which was a simple precaution.

One key tip is to configure the relay operation in the Shelly app to match the Promatic 4’s requirements. I set it to a 1-second pulse, which ensures the button function remains active at all times. This setup has been reliable for me, and I haven’t experienced any issues since installation.

For those considering this integration, here’s a quick wiring reference:

  • Pin 1 (VAC1) on Shelly to Pin 5 (24 V) on Promatic
  • Pin 2 (VAC2) on Shelly to Pin 20 (0 V) on Promatic
  • Out 1 on Shelly to Pin 21 (Signal Channel 1) on Promatic

I’m currently exploring adding a magnet contact switch to provide feedback on the door’s status. I’ll update the community once I’ve tested this setup!

I’d love to hear if others have successfully integrated the Shelly Plus Uni with their Promatic 4 or if there are alternative methods they’ve found useful. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
