I wanted to share some positive experiences I’ve had with my Blink Home Monitor app and my IKEA RGBW light bulb. First, the Blink app recently got a much-needed update with a distinctive notification sound, which has been a long-awaited feature for many users. It’s like a late Christmas present! I’ve been using it with iOS 17.2.1, and it works perfectly. The sound is similar to the Blink doorbell, making it easy to associate the notification with the app. It’s great to see the developers listening to customer feedback and making improvements. A big thank you to the Blink team! ![]()
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with controlling my IKEA RGBW light bulb using MQTT and zigbee2mqtt. Initially, I had some trouble getting the color control to work properly. After some research and with the help of the openHAB community, I managed to set up the correct JSONPath transformations. It was a bit tricky, but now I can adjust the colors seamlessly using a color picker in my openHAB setup. It’s amazing how customizable these bulbs are!
I also wanted to mention my experience with Shelly devices. I recently connected a Shelly 3EM to my Shelly Plus 1, and it’s been working like a charm. I was worried about the setup, but using the WLAN connection made everything straightforward. The Shelly community is also very supportive, with plenty of resources and forums to help troubleshoot any issues.
Overall, I’m really impressed with how these devices integrate into my smart home ecosystem. It’s wonderful to see how technology continues to evolve, making our homes smarter and more convenient. I’m excited to see what new features and improvements will come in the future!
