Positive Experiences with SiteSensor and Camera Motion Detection

I’ve been using SiteSensor for quite some time now, and it has been a reliable addition to my home security setup. One instance monitors my IP address, and the other checks for internet connectivity. Both have worked flawlessly until recently when I noticed a peculiar issue: they revert to DISARMED after a day or so. Despite no scenes, scripts, or PLEG forcing this change, I’m at a loss as to why it’s happening. I’ve reached out to Rigpapa and the developers, hoping for some insights. It’s truly commendable how a small team of developers has extended the capabilities of this platform.

On another note, I’ve been exploring camera motion detection integration with Home Assistant. I’ve added a cheap Chinese IP camera using the MotionEye addon and am looking for a script that activates motion detection when my mobile devices leave the house or when certain lamps are turned off after a set time. While I haven’t found a perfect solution yet, it’s been a fascinating journey. I’m optimistic that with some tweaking and the help of the community, I’ll get it working smoothly.

I’ve also come across some inspiring projects, like Adrian’s High Availability Home Assistant setup. It’s impressive how he managed to cluster MQTT and ensure failover capabilities. It’s these kinds of contributions that make the community so valuable. I’m curious to hear how others have approached similar setups or if there are any suggestions to improve upon Adrian’s approach.

Overall, it’s amazing how much we can achieve with the right tools and a bit of creativity. The support from developers and the community makes all the difference. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and hopefully contributing more in the future.
