Positive Experiences with SONOFF Devices

I wanted to share my positive experiences with the SONOFF devices I’ve been using over the past few months. It’s been a journey filled with learning and satisfaction, and I hope this can help others who are considering similar setups.

Starting with the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E Gateway, I initially had some confusion about choosing the right version. I quickly realized that the Plus-E version was the way to go for plug-and-play functionality. Once set up, it integrated seamlessly with my system, and the support from the binding made everything smooth. The gateway has been rock-solid, handling all my Zigbee devices without any issues.

Moving on to the SONOFF SNZB-02 Temperature & Humidity Sensors, I was impressed by their accuracy. After a lot of research, I found that they’re spec’d at about 0.5°F correlation, and in my unscientific tests, they performed exceptionally well. The binding detected them effortlessly, and the properties like temperature, humidity, battery level, and voltage are all exposed neatly. These sensors have been reliable, and I appreciate the detailed battery information they provide.

The SONOFF SNZB-04 Door/Window Sensors have also been a fantastic addition. I’ve installed them on my front and back doors, sunroom sliders, laundry door, and soon on my shed. They’ve been incredibly consistent, and the tamper detection feature is a nice touch. The battery life is impressive, and the sensors are easy to set up. I especially like how they integrate with my existing system and act as repeaters for the SNZB-02 sensors.

Lastly, the SONOFF S31 Lite ZB Smart Plugs have been a breath of fresh air compared to my old Wemo plugs. They’re detected without any hassle and work perfectly as repeaters. The only property exposed is the switch, which is all I need for scheduling my plant lights. It’s been a pleasure replacing those finicky Wemo plugs with these reliable SONOFF units.

One minor complaint I have is about the battery compartments on these devices. Opening them is a bit of a struggle, and I’m worried about how that will hold up over time. But overall, the benefits far outweigh this small inconvenience.

I’ve been monitoring my door switches and temperature/humidity sensors, and eventually, I’d love to set up notifications when doors are opened while I’m away. For now, the plugs handle my plant lights on a schedule without missing a beat.

To anyone considering SONOFF devices, I’d say go for it! They’ve been a great addition to my smart home setup, and I’m excited to see what other projects I can tackle with them. If you have any questions or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
