Presence Sensor FP2 (mmWave radar wired) - Apple Home "Authentication Failed"

FP2 sensor cannot connect.

Linksys Velop Pro 6e mesh
Mixed Network: WPA2/WPQ3 for 2.4 GHz, 5GHz, and 6 GHz
Both Node and Client Steering: Off
Strong WiFi signal

Restarting/resetting both computer and sensor did not resolve. The sensor simply refuses to recognize the network.

Went as far as disabling 5 GHz and 6GHz, but nothing. The sensor either cannot “see” my network, or “authentication fails.”

I do occasionally get a message asking if I want to switch to cellular, or continue with WiFi, when device cannot connect.

@gramos It sounds like you’re facing some connectivity challenges with your Presence Sensor FP2. Here are a few steps that might help resolve the issue:

  1. Network Compatibility: The FP2 sensor only supports a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If your mixed network includes WPA2/WPQ3, ensure that the 2.4 GHz band is set to WPA2 for better compatibility. The sensor does not support WPA/WPA2 enterprise-class networks, which might be causing the authentication failure.

  2. Wi-Fi Settings: Check if your router has Wi-Fi anti-squatting settings or AP isolation enabled, as these can prevent devices from connecting to the network.

  3. Manual Network Setup: If the sensor still doesn’t recognize the network, try resetting the FP2 and manually entering the HomeKit setting code during the setup process.

  4. Device Reset: Press and hold the reset button on the FP2 for 10 seconds to reset the network settings. If needed, press it quickly 10 times to restore factory settings.

  5. Router Proximity: Ensure that the sensor is within a reasonable range from the router and that there are no metal obstacles between them.

Given your strong Wi-Fi signal and the steps you’ve already taken, these additional checks might help. If the problem persists, it might be beneficial to reach out to the community for further insights or consult Aqara’s customer service for personalized support. Feel free to share any additional observations or questions you might have!

I was having issues when I had WPA3 turned on. WPA2 should have worked for devices that didn’t support WPA3 but did not in this case. Disabling WPA3 on the router fixed this for me.
