I have M3 hub, g2h pro, g3 and many other devices (65-70) in my home. The router to the Internet there, the hub itself, is usually connected to backup power and there is always power on them. When there is electricity, everything works fine and for a long time. The problem starts when the electricity goes out. Some of the battery-powered sensors simply stop working (after an hour or two of no electricity) and become offline (not all, selectively). If you press the test button on them, the test does not pass. If you reset them and add them again when there is no electricity, they are added perfectly and are already working.
But after a few days the situation may repeat.
As I understand it, the problem is that I have many Zigbee router devices - smart sockets, smart cameras, smart switches, etc. and if the sensor was connected through them (which is logical because the signal is better) - then when they are not on the network, it for some reason does not connect directly to the M3 gateway. Although I am not saying all devices, but some 10-20% of the available ones (light sensor, door sensors, etc.).I will note separately that even the most distant sensor in the absence of Zigbee repeater devices works correctly, although the signal is minimal. The problem is not in the signal, but in the fact that for some reason they do not want to connect directly to the gateway. How can this be fixed? Because the situation with electricity is unstable and it is important for the sensors to be constantly online.
Hello, I’m from Ukraine. I have a blackout 16 hours a day.
I solve this problem using this method. First, I identify CRITICAL sensors in the house (TVR, W100, square temperature sensors, motion…). Then I de-energize the house (completely de-energize) the gateways with a UPS. Then I reconnect the sensors. I had to place two gateways in different places in the house to block the clean Zigbee ↔ gateway zone. Lighting (emergency 24 volts) turns on automatically due to the direct connection of the sensors to the gateway. Here is a video of the emergency lighting and the principle of operation.
This is the state of my smart home right now😢
Thanks for the answer, I understand that it can be done this way, and I did it now. But unfortunately, as I understand it, it changes the route itself over time.
Therefore, I have 2 questions/problems:
- Why does the ZigBee network not work as it should? I understand that logically, if there is no router device, after 1-2 hours everything should work directly with the gateway if, of course, there is enough signal strength. But it doesn’t work like that, although this is the protocol specification, the question is why? Maybe there are some specific settings?
- I have a gas leak sensor (the one that is powered by 220V with a power supply). And after a long power outage, it does NOT come back after the power is restored. It doesn’t matter if you don’t reboot, if you just reset it and immediately add it - everything works right away, the signal is maximum. The problem is only with that sensor. Maybe someone has encountered this?
