I’ve been struggling to create a useful setup with my FP2 sensor as the desired room I wish to use it in is relatively small, and I have very limited options for mounting it at the recommended height. I have a good position earmarked, however there is very limited access to power; I have debated using an external battery pack, however I don’t believe this will be able to provide a long term solution. The new FP300 is tempting, however my main desire of the FP2 is the ability to create automations with zones, something I believe is not possible with the new device?
@Jericho-Yao It sounds like you’re facing a bit of a challenge with the FP2 sensor setup due to power accessibility issues. Indeed, the FP2 is quite robust in terms of creating automations with zones, a feature that might not be available with newer models like the FP300. The FP2 allows for detailed zone detection and you can set up to 30 zones for specific automations, which could be particularly beneficial for your needs in a smaller room.
Using an external battery pack could be a temporary solution, but as you mentioned, it may not be sustainable in the long run. One alternative could be to explore more creative mounting options or look into longer-term power solutions like concealed wiring or nearby power outlets that might not have been considered yet.
While the FP300 may have its own set of features, if zone-based automation is a priority for you, and if the FP2’s other functionalities align with your needs, it may be worth sticking with it. I encourage you to share your setup ideas or any innovative solutions you might try with the community, as it might inspire others facing similar challenges. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
Maybe you can power the FP2 with a power bank? It would be worth a try to see how long the FP2 lasts. If you use a 10,000 or 20,000 mAh power bank to test it out?!? Just a random idea.
