Hello everyone,
I wanted to share an exciting update on my ongoing project to transform an old TV into a digital picture frame using Home Assistant and Proxmox. After successfully installing Home Assistant on my ThinkCentre, I’ve been exploring how to integrate a digital frame feature. My goal is to have it display images automatically, with a motion sensor triggering the display for a set period before going into standby. I’ve considered using Ubuntu with a kiosk mode, but I’m curious if there’s a more streamlined approach within Home Assistant itself.
In the meantime, I stumbled upon an interesting discussion about virtual switches in Home Assistant. As someone who’s transitioned from OpenHab, I’ve always appreciated the flexibility of virtual switches for controlling automations. For instance, I use one to disable room lighting automations when cleaning staff are present. It’s been a lifesaver for customizing my smart home experience without relying solely on time-based routines.
I’d love to hear if others have implemented similar solutions or have tips for optimizing virtual switches. Additionally, if anyone has insights on integrating a digital frame within Home Assistant without relying on external OS setups, I’d be grateful for the advice!
Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!
Best regards,
