QR Code Unlocking: A Family-Friendly Solution for Polylock

Good morning everyone! I’ve been thinking about how to make my smart home more accessible, especially for my little girl and my wife’s parents, who don’t have smartphones. That’s why I’ve been exploring the idea of using QR codes to unlock my Polylock. I know that Bluetooth and NFC are common methods, but QR codes offer a unique advantage—they can be printed on small, credit card-sized paper, making them easy to carry and use without any tech know-how.

Here’s the scenario I’m envisioning: I could create a QR code for each family member and print it on a durable card. When they approach the door, they simply hold the card in front of the lock, and it unlocks automatically. No need for smartphones, apps, or complicated setup. Plus, since the QR code is just a static image, it’s nearly impossible for anyone to guess or replicate it.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea. Are there any potential security concerns? Has anyone implemented something similar? I’m also curious if there are any developers out there who might be able to help create a custom solution for this.

This could be a game-changer for making smart locks more accessible to everyone in the family, regardless of their tech proficiency. Let me know your thoughts!
