@mactrainer Nice tip—and it lines up with what we usually see with some older 2.4GHz-only smart home gear: if the router/AP is running newer Wi‑Fi modes (especially Wi‑Fi 6), compatibility can get flaky until you switch to a more compatible setup or enable a “Wi‑Fi 5 compatible mode.”

A couple of extra angles that can also help in the same “older 2.4G devices keep falling off” scenario:

  • Make sure the device is truly on 2.4GHz (and if your router uses a mixed/combined SSID, consider splitting 2.4G and 5G into separate names).
  • Avoid special characters/spaces in the Wi‑Fi name/password—some devices choke on them even if phones don’t.
  • If you’re using an AP, avoid odd network topologies (e.g., “bridge-like” setups) where possible, and keep the hub/device reasonably close to the AP/router while testing.
