Rainbow Wave Automation and Smart Lighting Tips

Hey everyone! I’ve been experimenting with some cool automation setups lately, and I wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice. First off, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the rainbow wave effect I created using my Govee LED strips. It’s such a vibrant addition to my living room, especially during movie nights or when entertaining guests. The soft, shifting colors really set the mood without being too overwhelming. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has tips for enhancing this effect!

On another note, I’ve been working on automating my home’s lighting to simulate presence when I’m away. I set up a system where lights turn on and off in random patterns, and it’s been working like a charm. However, I ran into an issue where one of my automated shutdown routines was still running even after I got home. It ended up closing my blinds while I was still inside! I fixed it by adjusting the triggers, but I’m curious if anyone has a more elegant solution for stopping automations remotely or based on real-time presence detection.

I’d also love to hear about others’ experiences with integrating different smart lighting brands. I’ve got a mix of Govee, Lifx, and Hue, and while they all work well individually, getting them to play nice together can be a bit of a puzzle. Any tips or tricks for seamless integration would be greatly appreciated!

Lastly, I’m thinking about setting up some seasonal automations for the holidays. Maybe a gradual dimming effect for a cozy reading corner or some dynamic lighting for parties. If anyone has creative ideas or successful setups they’d like to share, I’d be thrilled to learn more!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
