My automations are focused on light and motion. In bathroom, office, and bedroom, if motion is detected, and light is above a certain lux, lights come on. The light is important because I enjoy natural light so the window shades are open during the day and I don’t want to waste the electricity.
My challenges are cables, obviously, which this would fix. My wife doesn’t like them and they limit where I can put these sensors. Other challenges are ceiling fans, which I haven’t figured out a way to deal with. My wife loves to turn on the fans but then they permanently trigger the sensors.
I currently use homekit. Have dabbled in home assistant but not seriously.
I have an FP2 in my office that I share with my wife. Home Assistant is my primary platform for automations. The FP2 is zoned to detect presence in each workstation and also a couch. The automations drive zone lightning and also the position of the blinds via the E1 Roller Shade driver. I’m thinking of adding an air quality sensor, next.
I have a FP2 in every room in my home and I use them for presence detection to control lights, and the light level as well to know to what level the lights should be. They work pretty good, but definitely have some places I’d love to swap to FP300’s!
