Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent discovery and thoughts on optimizing energy consumption in smart home devices. While setting up my holiday lights, I stumbled upon something surprising: the standby power consumption of my FS20 ST devices. According to the manual, it should be around 0.5W, but in reality, each unit consumes a whopping 4W! With five FS20 ST and two FS20 RSU in use, that adds up to nearly 30W continuously. Over a year, this amounts to about €50 in extra energy costs.
This made me rethink my approach to energy efficiency in smart home setups. While the convenience of these devices is undeniable, it’s crucial to balance functionality with sustainability. I’ve started exploring alternative solutions and optimizing my current setup to minimize standby consumption. For instance, strategically turning off devices when not in use or grouping them to reduce overall energy draw.
I’d love to hear your experiences and tips on managing energy consumption in smart home systems. Have you encountered similar issues, and how did you address them? Let’s share ideas to make our smart homes both efficient and eco-friendly! ![]()
