I recently faced an issue with the Heizkörperthermostate in my home, which were making quite loud adjustment noises. This was quite annoying, especially during quiet evenings. After some research, I came across a helpful thread that inspired me to dive into solving the problem myself.
I decided to take apart the thermostats in my living and bedroom areas. Upon inspection, I noticed that the gears inside weren’t lubricated properly. Some had a mix of vaseline and oil, while others had very little lubrication. This inconsistency was causing the varying noise levels.
I carefully cleaned and reapplied a consistent amount of lubricant to all the moving parts. After reassembling, the thermostats now run much more quietly—just a soft hum from the motor, which is barely noticeable.
This experience taught me the importance of proper maintenance and consistent lubrication for smooth operation. I’ve documented the process in a PDF guide, which I’d be happy to share with anyone interested in tackling a similar issue.
I’m excited to see how long this fix lasts and look forward to hearing others’ experiences with maintaining their thermostats. Happy tinkering! ![]()
