I wanted to share my success with setting up a Reolink camera for away mode automation using Rule Machine. After some research and trial and error, I finally got everything working smoothly. Here’s how I did it:
-
Enabled HTTP on the Camera: I followed the instructions to enable HTTP settings under the camera’s ports section. This was crucial for sending commands remotely.
-
Configured Virtual Switch: I created a virtual switch named ‘Camera Armed’ to control the camera’s features. This switch acts as a toggle for enabling or disabling recording, sirens, and spotlights.
-
Set Up Rule Machine: Using Rule Machine, I triggered actions based on the virtual switch’s state. When the switch is off, it disables all security features. When it’s on, it enables them. This setup ensures that security measures are active only when I’m away.
-
Testing and Adjustments: I tested the setup by toggling the virtual switch and monitoring the camera’s responses. Everything worked as intended, and I felt confident about the security coverage.
This project was a great way to enhance my home security without constant monitoring. I’m now looking forward to expanding this setup to other areas of my home. If anyone has questions or needs assistance with similar automation, feel free to ask! ![]()
