Replacing Hive TRV's with W600?

I’m interested in switching from the Hive TRV’s to the Aqara W600. What I’m struggling to get my head around is how they will work with my boiler? How will they control it? Hive has the box connected to the boiler, so will the Aqara TRV work with that, or is there another way? What am I missing here? I’d be interested to hear from other UK users and how they have it working. Thx.

No, there is no such direct integration. You have to use the automation logic to write a heating system rule using the W600 in combination with an Aqara T2 Relay which actually switches the boiler on/off.

I have a similar thing with their E1 TRVs for my UK boiler, as part of a larger heating control automation incorporating a few other devices.

Hello, this is my algorithm, I integrated the E1 thermostat here. Methods for controlling room temperature using Aqara devices

Is there a reason you want to move away from Hive TRV’s? I assume they can be controlled remotely?

There are multiple ways you can get the Aqara TRV’s to trigger the boiler (depending on your capabilities).

  1. Using a relay as nzjrs stated.
  2. Possibly using an Aqara W500 Thermostat (ONLY if your boiler fires with mains voltage) and automations.
  3. Using other integrations. For me, I use Home Assistant templating and automations to alter my Nest Thermostat temperature (increase by a degree or two) to run the boiler if a TRV requires heat.
