Hello everyone, I’m looking for some creative ideas to repurpose the in-wall speaker systems in my home. The original setup is outdated and I’ve decided to replace the speakers with Google Home Mini devices using a 3D-printed adapter to fit them into the existing speaker rims. This has worked out great for audio, but now I’m faced with the challenge of what to do with the old control panels in each room. They’re located near the entrances and aren’t close to the speakers, which are mounted near the ceiling.
I was thinking of turning these panels into smart home control hubs. Maybe installing small touchscreens or integrating them with other smart devices. I’m curious to hear how others have approached similar situations. Have you found a way to repurpose old speaker controls into something functional for your smart home setup? I’d love to hear your ideas and see how the community has tackled this challenge!
Some possibilities I’ve considered include:
- Installing touchscreen interfaces for room-specific controls
- Using the panels to house additional smart home devices like smart plugs or sensors
- Integrating voice controls or buttons for common commands
I’m open to any suggestions and would appreciate hearing about your experiences or creative solutions. Let’s brainstorm together and find a way to make these old controls work seamlessly with modern smart home technology!
