I’ve been using a Raspberry Pi to integrate my analog doorbell into a smart setup, leveraging GPIO pins to detect the reed switch triggered by the doorbell. It’s been a fun DIY project! However, as I look to upgrade my setup with an Intel NUC for better performance, I’ve hit a snag—the lack of GPIO ports. I’ve explored USB-connected GPIO breakout boards like the MCP2221A or FT232H from Adafruit, which are affordable and versatile. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any existing integrations for these boards in Home Assistant. I’d love to see a community-driven integration or even some code sharing between existing GPIO integrations to make this possible. It would be fantastic to use multiple USB GPIO boards for various projects without breaking the bank! ![]()
