Hi everyone, I wanted to share a solution I found for an issue with the Govee app’s scheduling feature. I recently purchased a 50ft Govee LED outdoor light set to use inside my garage cabinets. While the outdoor lights are on a schedule, I noticed that the indoor garage lights were also turning on at the same time, even though they weren’t added to any schedule. This was quite puzzling and a bit frustrating as I couldn’t figure out how to stop it. After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the issue was related to how the Govee app handles device associations. Here’s what I did to resolve it:
-
Check Device Associations: I went into the Govee app and reviewed the settings for each light set. I found that the indoor lights were somehow linked to the outdoor schedule, even though they weren’t explicitly added.
-
Unlink Devices: By navigating to the schedule settings, I was able to unlink the indoor lights from the outdoor schedule. This involved going into each device’s settings and removing them from the group they were mistakenly associated with.
-
Create Separate Groups: To avoid future issues, I created separate groups in the app for indoor and outdoor lights. This way, each set can be controlled independently without unintended interactions.
-
Test the Changes: After making these adjustments, I tested the schedules to ensure that each group of lights was operating as intended. The indoor lights no longer turn on when the outdoor schedule activates, and everything works smoothly now.
This experience taught me the importance of carefully reviewing device associations in smart home apps. It’s easy to overlook these settings, but taking the time to check them can save a lot of frustration down the line. I hope this helps anyone else who might be experiencing similar issues with their Govee lights!
