Hey everyone, just wanted to share something that might save someone else a ton of headache.
So I’ve been using the Aqara Motion Sensor with HomeKit for a while and outta nowhere, it stopped responding. It would just show “No Response” in the Home app, and automations tied to it were basically dead. I tried the classic unpair and re-pair, but no luck. Reset it like three times. Still nothing.
What finally worked — and this sounds ridiculous — was moving the hub about 2 meters closer to the sensor just temporarily, re-adding the sensor, and then moving the hub back. Turns out it was a range/connectivity issue all along, even though it had been working fine for weeks. Also deleted and rebuilt the automation cuz sometimes they just bug out for no reason.
One thing I also noticed: if your Wi-Fi or Zigbee network is crowded or choppy, these sensors seem extra sensitive. I ended up switching channels on my router to avoid Zigbee overlap, and things became noticeably snappier.
Just sharing in case someone else is pulling their hair out over this. Motion sensors are awesome when they work, but man, when they don’t, it’s a pain. Anyone else faced this? Got any weird fixes that ended up working?
