Hey everyone, I wanted to share an exciting project I’ve been working on to integrate Telegram into my smart home setup. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences with similar setups!
I’ve always been a fan of having my smart home accessible via my phone, but I wanted something more seamless and customizable. That’s when I stumbled upon the idea of using Telegram inline keyboards to control various aspects of my home. The concept was simple: create a series of commands and buttons that I could access directly from the Telegram app, all linked to my Home Assistant setup.
I started by setting up basic commands like /start and /cp to navigate through different sections of my home automation. From there, I branched out into creating more complex interactions, such as controlling lights, managing security systems, and even ordering pizza (a fun Easter egg that my family loves)!
One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing how it’s streamlined my daily routine. For instance, in the evening, I can quickly check if the lights are on or if the security system is armed without having to open multiple apps or navigate through complicated menus. It’s all right there in Telegram, just a few taps away.
I also had a few hiccups along the way, like figuring out how to properly format the YAML files for the automations. But thanks to some amazing resources and tutorials online, I was able to troubleshoot and refine my setup. It’s been a great learning experience, and I feel more confident now in tackling other home automation projects.
