Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for some help with setting up an automation using my Ring doorbell. I’ve been trying to get this to work for a while now, but it just doesn’t seem to be functioning as expected in the new SmartThings app.
Here’s what I’m trying to achieve: I want the lights in my living room and kitchen to turn on automatically when my daughter’s nurse arrives at night. The setup is pretty straightforward—I’ve connected my Ring doorbell to detect motion and monitor the lock status. When motion is detected and the door is unlocked, the lights should come on, and the kitchen light should turn off after 10 minutes. Simple enough, right?
Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, the automation isn’t working. I’ve tried troubleshooting by checking the connections, ensuring all devices are online, and verifying that the motion sensor is correctly configured. I even considered whether the garage motion light (also a Ring device) might be interfering, but removing it from the equation didn’t solve the issue.
