I’m experiencing a serious issue with my Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 and I’m hoping someone here has seen this before.
My setup:
- Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1
- Zigbee network via Home Assistant
- Roller blind: 1400mm wide × 1600mm cassette blind
The problem:
No buttons respond at all – not even a 10-second reset. The motor does nothing. The device shows a brief blue flash on power-up, then solid red light for 1-2 minutes.
What makes this unusual:
- My first E1 worked perfectly for over 6 months on the same blind
- I replaced it with a new E1 – the replacement unit developed the exact same fault after just 2 days
- Both units are completely unresponsive, no reset possible
Since the first device worked fine for 6 months on the same hardware, I’m struggling to understand what could cause the same fault on two different units.
Questions:
- Has anyone else experienced this?
- Is there a way to recover/reset the device when buttons are completely unresponsive?
- Is there a known fix from Aqara for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already contacted the retailer but before replacing with a third unit I’d like to understand the root cause.
