RS485 Communication Issues and Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, I’m reaching out to see if anyone has encountered and resolved a similar issue with RS485 communication in their smart home setup. I’ve been experiencing some intermittent communication problems with my RS485 wired contacts, which have been working flawlessly for over a year. Here’s what’s been happening:

I have several magnet contacts and switches connected to my RS485 modules. Every so often, the CCU fails to detect a status change, even though manually querying the status returns the correct information. This issue becomes more pronounced when multiple outputs on an RS485 I/O module are active. I’ve tried isolating the problem by providing a dedicated 24V power supply to the module and updating the CCU firmware, but neither solution has resolved the issue.

I’m curious if anyone has faced similar challenges and how they managed to overcome them. Have you encountered stability issues with RS485 modules under certain conditions? Any insights or troubleshooting steps you could share would be greatly appreciated!

In the meantime, I’ll continue to explore potential causes, such as signal interference or hardware defects. If anyone has successfully addressed this type of problem, I’d love to hear about your approach.

Cheers,
Thorsten
