Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of UPS management lately, and I thought I’d share some insights I’ve gathered. I recently noticed that my APC Back-UPS Pro 1600 didn’t have the ‘Runtime Calibration’ option available in the PowerChute Serial Shutdown software. This was a bit puzzling because I remember seeing this feature in older versions of the software.
After some research, I found out that the PowerChute Business Edition, which used to include this feature, has been discontinued and replaced by the PowerChute Serial Shutdown. However, it seems like the ‘Runtime Calibration’ feature hasn’t made the cut in the newer versions. This is a bit disappointing, especially since even basic UPS models I’ve used before have this feature.
I tried reaching out to APC support, and they mentioned that manual calibration might still be an option. This involves unplugging the UPS and letting it discharge fully, which isn’t the most convenient method but works in a pinch. I also explored third-party tools like UpsDiag, but unfortunately, they didn’t recognize my UPS either.
For those of you who might be facing the same issue, here’s a tip: if you have access to an older version of PowerChute Business Edition, you might still be able to use it for calibration, provided it recognizes your UPS model. I also recommend checking APC’s support forums for any community-driven solutions or workarounds.
If anyone has successfully navigated this issue or has alternative methods for maintaining UPS calibration, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other out. ![]()
