S1 plus EU feedback

Hi,

I just want to give a touch of feedback on what I feel COULD be a great device.

I love the form factor, it is sleek and the screen is amazing.
I like that I can potentially run it on a dock instead of having to wire it to a 220 plug when not wall mounted.

It’s a great device BUT it has so much wasted potential and I think it could be much better with one “simple” addition; a slider.
I would love to dim a whole zone of lights but just lightly sliding my finger on the screen.
I would love to be able to pilot my room temperature by just sliding my finger on the screen.
I would love to be able to pilot mu curtains by just…

No IR blaster is a bit sad but it can easily be solved with Home Assistant f.ex.

Another addition I would like to see is user themes. Please let us create and upload our own themes (alternatively provide a much larger library).

One thing that I can only dream of: give us the opportunity to have a Home Assistant companion mode or dashboards on it.

Right now I have one in my “lab” that’s I update every now and then hoping for some cool new feature but I could have one per room in my house if it did everything I wanted.

This device has so much going on for it but it’s too limited to be useful right now.

Hoping this helps and this gets heard!

@airchtit Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU. It’s wonderful to hear that you appreciate its sleek design and versatile screen. Your suggestions are insightful, especially the idea of incorporating a slider for intuitive control over lights, temperature, and curtains. This could indeed enhance the user experience by making it even more interactive and user-friendly.

Regarding the desire for custom themes, the current setup allows users to select from existing themes via the settings, but expanding this to include user-created themes could indeed add a personal touch that many users would appreciate. The lack of an IR blaster is a noted limitation, and it’s great to see you’re already thinking of workarounds like using Home Assistant.

Your idea of a Home Assistant companion mode or dashboard is intriguing and could potentially bridge the gap between different smart home ecosystems, offering a seamless experience across platforms.

Your feedback is invaluable and surely helps in shaping future developments. We encourage you to keep experimenting and sharing your thoughts as they can drive innovation. Thank you again for contributing to the community!

Great points and do believe more features will come later on, but personally I just love the display but would really have loved a stand for it instead of having it hardwired in the wall. I settled buying a std stand from another brand but would have preferred a nicer stand in the same format as the display.

+1 for allowing HA companion app or a kiosk browser mode for HA if that is possible. Thank you

Have you ever tried creating your lights as a group in the Aqara app and then adding this group to the panel? Then you should have a slider, right? By long-pressing the device on the panel, you can change the device card, and for some lights, you can then select a slider. But I suspect you want a large one that you can operate from top to bottom? Generally speaking, I agree with you: the device has so much potential, but I also understand Aqara’s position in supporting its own devices first. With the integration of Matter via the M3 Hub, I have almost all of my devices on the display and have set up corresponding scenes. It works perfectly. I would really welcome more themes and icons for devices, scenes, etc. There simply needs to be more options.
