Schlage Connect Integration and Nest Thermostat Pre-Cooling Tips

Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you all well! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with you all.

First off, I recently installed a Schlage Connect door lock, which uses ZWave+. I’ve been using Alexa devices throughout my home, but integrating the Schlage lock was a bit of a challenge. I tried connecting it directly to Alexa, but it didn’t work out. After some research, I decided to get a Hubitat Evolution hub to handle the ZWave integration. While the setup was a bit tricky at first, I managed to get everything connected smoothly. If anyone else is looking to integrate Schlage Connect with Alexa, I’d recommend checking out the Hubitat community for some great resources and guides!

Another area I’ve been exploring is smart thermostat control, specifically with the Nest Gen 4 thermostat. I love the Auto Eco feature and pre-cooling options, but I ran into an issue where the AC would still kick on during peak hours even when I was away. After some trial and error, I found that adjusting the pre-cooling schedule and ensuring the Auto Eco settings were properly configured helped balance energy savings and comfort. If anyone has tips on optimizing these settings, I’d love to hear them!

Here are a few quick tips I’ve picked up along the way:

  • Always check firmware updates for your devices—they can make a big difference in performance.
  • Take your time with initial setup; a little extra effort upfront can save you headaches down the line.
  • Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for advice—there’s a wealth of knowledge here!

I’d love to hear how others are managing their smart home setups, especially with Schlage Connect and Nest thermostats. Any additional tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
