Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating my Schlage Camelot Z-Wave door lock with Google Home. I’ve been using SmartThings for years, and everything worked seamlessly until I upgraded my router to a mesh network. After the upgrade, I had to factory reset my hub and relink all my devices. While most devices reconnected without issues, my Schlage door lock wasn’t showing up in Google Home, which was frustrating because it’s been a reliable part of my smart home setup for years.
I tried everything—relinking the devices, checking the SmartThings app, and even reaching out to support. The problem seemed to be that Google Home wasn’t detecting the lock, even though it was fully functional with SmartThings. After some digging, I realized that the issue might be related to how Google Home syncs with SmartThings. I had to manually re-add the lock through the Google Home app, and now it’s working perfectly again!
This experience taught me the importance of double-checking device connections after major network changes. It also highlighted how crucial it is to have a reliable hub and mesh network setup. If anyone else is having trouble with Schlage locks and Google Home, I’d recommend ensuring all connections are secure and manually re-adding the device if necessary. Happy automating!
