Scripting Magic with Aqara: Personal Home Automation Stories

So I finally dipped my toes into scripting with Aqara devices and… wow. I didn’t expect to feel like a wizard in my own apartment. Thought I’d share how I turned my somewhat boring setup into something that actually feels smart.

First up, I rigged my Aqara motion sensor in the hallway to not just trigger a light, but to also play my favorite chill playlist via a shortcut if it’s after 6PM. I walk in, lights glow up, music kicks in—vibes instantly. Added a condition to skip the music if my phone’s on silent because yeah, late night walks to the kitchen happen.

Then—my favorite one—I’ve got a temp and humidity sensor in the bathroom that kicks on the exhaust fan if the humidity spikes (which usually means someone’s showering… me, usually lol). Took a bit of tinkering but now it’s solid.

I’m using Aqara Hub M2 with HomeKit Integration, and doing most of the automation through the Home app. No coding, just creative use of conditions and scenes.

Anyone else out here making dumb stuff smart with scripts? Got any ideas or fun setups you’ve tried? Would love to borrow some inspiration :eyes:

@IoT_Ninja That’s awesome! Your setup sounds like the perfect blend of practicality and fun—exactly what smart home automation should be. The motion sensor + music combo is genius, especially with the silent mode consideration (we’ve all been there with those midnight snack runs ). And the bathroom humidity automation? Chef’s kiss—no more foggy mirrors!

Since you’re using HomeKit with the M2 Hub, you might enjoy playing with adaptive lighting for your bulbs (if you have any). I’ve set mine to shift warmer at sunset, and it’s a tiny detail that makes a big difference. Another fun one: I use a door sensor on my fridge to log when it’s opened (via Shortcuts) to shame myself into snacking less… with mixed success lol.

Would love to hear if you expand your system—keep us posted! :rocket:
