Hey everyone,
Just thought I’d drop a post here because I recently had a bit of a “why is all my stuff dead?” moment with my Aqara sensors. Turns out, I was unknowingly draining batteries like there was no tomorrow. After some digging around and trial and error, I’ve learned a few things that might help save you some sanity (and coin). For context, I consider myself an Aqara enthusiast but definitely not a pro, so take this as friendly tips from someone who’s been there.
First off — placement matters. My motion sensor in the hallway was triggering non-stop because it caught movement from both rooms. Moved it slightly, and boom — battery went from lasting two months to nearly eight now.
Another thing — I had my temperature sensors set to report data way too frequently. You probably don’t need updates every 30 seconds unless you’re monitoring a lab or something. Once I adjusted that via the app, battery life improved a lot.
Also, if you’re constantly opening your doors or windows, those contact sensors will work overtime. Makes sense, right? I ended up moving one to a less-used window and instantly noticed less drain.
And if you’re using automations or scenes that keep pinging the same device over and over? Yeah… that adds up.
Anyway, would love to know what battery life everyone else is getting. Any hacks or tweaks I might’ve missed? Is it just me, or do the batteries in temp sensors still go out faster than everything else?
Let’s crowdsource some wisdom here.
