Security - Improve Siren Offer

Having products of dedicated sirens for security

  • Inside
    and
  • Outside with flash

The build in sirens (camera, hub) are not strong enough

@bot_philippe Thank you for sharing your insights on the need for more robust sirens for security purposes, both indoors and outdoors with a flash feature. While the built-in sirens in Aqara’s cameras and hubs offer some level of alert, they might not fully meet the demands of a dedicated security setup for all users.

Currently, Aqara’s alert system allows devices with gateway capabilities to trigger audible and visual alarms. However, it sounds like you’re looking for something more powerful and perhaps specifically designed for high-impact alert scenarios.

Your feedback is invaluable and could greatly benefit the development of future Aqara products. I encourage you and other community members to continue discussing this topic to explore potential solutions or workarounds that could be implemented with existing setups. If you’re looking for immediate solutions or workarounds, feel free to share your ideas or ask the community for recommendations.

Hi Team Aqara,

Thanks for your follow up and your interest in my proposal.

I tried the following workarounds

  • Aqara plug with a 220V siren
  • Zigbee plug with a adaptor and a 12V siren

In both case the difficulty is that the plugs are viewed at best as lights for Alexa or Apple Home.
So if you ask “light up the kitchen”, it will trigger the siren … oops.
I had also some other minimal difficulties of integration.

The simpliest solution would be

  • A battery based siren
  • Viewed as a siren by the Aqara hub & the integration
  • Triggered easily by the Aqara hub if the protection is activated and a one sensor is triggered
  • If the alarm is set on “off” after check, the siren would be switched on off (doing this automation with a workaround is not so easy).

Keep up the good work,
All the best,

@bot_philippe Hi Team Aqara,

Thank you for sharing your innovative workarounds and suggestions for improving the siren capabilities within the Aqara ecosystem. It’s great to see such proactive engagement with our products!

Your proposal for a battery-based siren that can be easily recognized and triggered by the Aqara hub is insightful. As you noted, the current solutions involving plugs and external sirens can sometimes lead to unexpected results, like the amusing example of triggering the siren when asking to “light up the kitchen.”

Your ideas highlight the need for more integrated solutions that can seamlessly work with existing smart home systems without such integration hurdles. While our current alert system allows for some degree of customization, your feedback is crucial for informing future product developments.

Please continue to share these valuable insights with the community and feel free to discuss potential solutions or improvements. Your input is greatly appreciated, and we are committed to exploring how we can enhance our security offerings in response to user feedback.

Keep up the great work, and all the best!

I agree for example using the M1S Hub, HomeKit sees it as a night light which is not helpful and it’s almost like the system was half ready for prime-time and released to the consumer and has since been forgotten. Honestly there is nothing else really on the market so you would think Aqara would be all over that because it would be a huge seller and very popular.

An outdoor siren with lights would be a wonderful addition to the Aqara line-up! Count me in if that goes live!!
