Seeking Advice on Battery Life, Google Home Integration, and Zigbee Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,

I’m new to this community and I’m really excited to dive into the world of smart home automation. I’ve been experimenting with various devices and systems, but I’ve hit a few bumps along the way. I thought I’d reach out to the experts here for some guidance and tips.

First off, I’ve been using the Aqara P2 door and window sensors, and they’ve been working great for the most part. However, I’ve noticed that the battery life on the sensor I use for my bedroom window is significantly shorter compared to the one on my front door. I suspect this might be because the window is often left open during the day, causing the sensor to send constant signals. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a way to configure the sensor to only send signals when the window is opened or closed, rather than continuously monitoring it? I’d love to find a solution that doesn’t involve replacing the battery every couple of weeks.

Another issue I’m facing is with Google Home integration. I’ve set up a routine where I say, ‘Hey Google, goodnight,’ which should turn off all my lights and lock my doors. While the lights do turn off, the doors don’t lock. I’ve double-checked all my settings and everything seems to be in order. Could there be a compatibility issue with my door locks? I’m using a mix of Z-Wave and Zigbee devices, so I’m not sure if that’s causing the problem. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, I’ve been struggling with my Zigbee network. I recently added a few new devices, and now I’m experiencing intermittent connectivity issues. Some devices work perfectly, while others seem to drop offline randomly. I’ve tried resetting the network and re-pairing the devices, but the problem persists. I’m wondering if there’s a specific channel that’s more reliable or if there are any best practices for maintaining a stable Zigbee network. I’ve heard that channel interference can be a common issue, but I’m not sure how to diagnose or fix it.

I really appreciate any advice or suggestions you can offer. I’m eager to get these issues sorted out so I can fully enjoy the benefits of my smart home setup. Once I get everything working smoothly, I’d be happy to share my configuration and any tips I’ve learned along the way.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Best regards,
