Seeking Alternatives for Real-Time Energy Monitoring with Enphase

Hello everyone, I’m excited to share my journey with Homey and its integration with my Enphase solar system. As a new user, I was drawn to Homey’s ability to dynamically control energy-consuming devices based on solar production. My setup includes a close-in boiler and washing machine, which I aim to automate using real-time energy data from my Enphase Envoy Metered system. This system allows me to monitor production, consumption, and import/export in real time, which is crucial for optimizing my energy use.

However, my experience with the default solar app has been underwhelming. The lack of support for the Enphase Local API, reliance on a cloud API with complex onboarding, and slow data refresh rates (15-minute intervals) have been significant drawbacks. Additionally, the absence of power (W) data and the inability to monitor consumption or import/export beyond basic production metrics have limited my ability to fully leverage my system’s potential. These issues have made it challenging to achieve the level of automation and efficiency I envisioned.

To address these shortcomings, I’ve explored workarounds using a better logic app and HTTP requests. While functional, this solution feels clunky and not as seamless as I hoped. I’m now seeking recommendations for alternative apps or methods that can provide real-time monitoring and integration with Homey’s Energy tab. Have others encountered similar challenges, especially with other inverters, and how have they overcome them? I’m eager to hear about successful integrations or innovative solutions that can enhance my energy management experience.

Thank you in advance for your insights and suggestions. I’m looking forward to learning from your experiences and finding a more robust solution for my setup.
