Hey everyone, I’m looking for some automation advice and would love your input! Here’s the scenario: I have an automation set up to turn off the outdoor lights at 10:30 PM, but only if all four family members are ‘home.’ If anyone is still ‘away,’ the automation doesn’t trigger. Now, I want to tweak this to make it a bit more convenient.
What I’d love is for the lights to turn off after 10:30 PM when anyone who was previously ‘away’ comes home. But I also want to add a 15-minute delay to give everyone enough time to get out of the car, take the dog out one last time, etc.
I’ve tried a few different approaches in the automation editor, but I’m not quite getting it right. I think the main challenge is figuring out how to detect when someone transitions from ‘away’ to ‘home’ and then trigger the timer.
If anyone has experience with similar automations or can suggest a more efficient way to set this up, I’d be super grateful! Let me know if you need more details about my current setup.
