I’m trying to set up a family group in Home Assistant to make my automations more efficient. I’ve got two people in my family, let’s call them Person1 and Person2. I’ve created a group in my configuration.yaml file and included both of them, but when I try to use this group in an automation, it doesn’t seem to work. In Lovelace, the group shows their statuses correctly, like whether they’re home or away, but when I use the group in an automation, it doesn’t trigger as expected.
I’ve tried different configurations, but nothing seems to work. For example, I have an automation that should trigger when anyone in the group is home, but it doesn’t. I’ve also tried manually typing in the ‘home’ state, but that doesn’t help either. If I use just one person in the automation, it works fine, but not when I use the group.
I’m hoping someone out there has figured this out and can share their solution. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a different way to structure the group. I really appreciate any help or advice you can offer!
