Seeking Help with Nest Smoke Alarm Sensor Failure

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for some advice regarding my Nest Protect smoke alarms. I’ve had three second-generation units installed in my home, and they’ve been working perfectly until recently. One of them, located in the upstairs hall, suddenly showed a sensor failure on the app. This is particularly concerning because the alarm is only five months old and appears to be in excellent condition, with no visible dust or debris inside.

The app indicated that the sensor failed at 9:13 PM but then showed a green checkmark stating the sensor was restored at the same time. I’m puzzled by this inconsistency. While the sensor seems to have recovered, I’m still worried about potential false alarms, especially since I have a dog who becomes extremely anxious during any alarm sounds. The alarm didn’t chirp or trigger the app immediately; I only noticed the issue the next day when I checked the daily history on the app. There was no cooking or steam activity happening at the time of the failure, and the hall was quiet with only me at home.

I’ve heard from others who’ve experienced similar issues with their Nest Protects, and it seems to be a recurring problem for some users. My concern is that this could happen again, leaving me without reliable protection. I’m considering taking the alarm down and replacing it, but I want to explore other options first to avoid unnecessary costs.

If anyone has encountered this issue and found a solution, or has advice on how to troubleshoot it further, I would greatly appreciate your insights. I’m hoping to resolve this without replacing the unit, but I need to ensure my home and pet’s safety remain secure. Thank you in advance for any help or guidance you can provide!
