I’m Matt, a software developer by day and a hardware hacker by night. I’ve recently gotten into the world of OpenHAB and am really excited to integrate it with some of my home devices. One of my main goals is to get my DVD/Bluray player to work seamlessly with my OpenHAB setup. Specifically, I want to press play on the DVD player and have my LightwaveRF lights dim automatically as the movie starts.
I’ve heard that OpenHAB has bindings for Smart TVs, but I’m not sure about DVD players. Are there any bindings available for this? If not, is there a recommended DVD player that’s known to work well with OpenHAB? I’m open to getting my hands dirty if needed—I’ve worked with Arduinos before, so I’m not afraid to dive into some hardware hacking.
I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations you might have. Whether it’s about specific players, workarounds, or even tips on how to approach this integration, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance for your help!
