Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of ZigBee with openHAB 3 and wanted to share my journey so far. After spending hours researching and setting up, I’m eager to get my first ZigBee devices working smoothly!
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Installed openHABian on a Raspberry Pi 4
- Configured the Ember ZigBee dongle as a coordinator
- Set up the ZigBee binding in openHAB
- Tested the coordinator setup, which seems to be working perfectly
The challenge now is finding bulbs that are known to work well with the Ember coordinator. I tried some Chinese Smart bulbs, but they’re not connecting at all. I’ve reviewed the logs, but honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming for someone still getting familiar with the system.
I’m reaching out to the community for advice—what brands or models have others had success with? I’d love to hear about any troubleshooting tips or experiences others have had with similar setups.
On a broader note, transitioning from openHAB v1 and v2 to v3 has been quite the learning curve, especially with the new UI and terminology. It’s both exciting and a bit daunting, but I’m committed to making it work!
