Hi everyone, I’m on the hunt for a reliable energy monitoring device that can track the consumption of a few outlets in my home. My main criteria are that it should be supported by SmartThings, have an in-wall design, and ideally work with Z-Wave. I’ve been doing some research, but finding a device that ticks all these boxes has been a bit of a challenge.
I’ve come across a few options, each with its pros and cons. The iHome SP8, for instance, is officially supported by SmartThings but isn’t in-wall or Z-Wave compatible. After reading some forums, I’m considering whether Z-Wave is even the way to go, but I’m still hopeful. The Iris smart plug is another option, but it’s not supported by SmartThings and isn’t in-wall either. The Centralite plug-in module is supported by SmartThings, but again, it’s not in-wall or Z-Wave. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to find the right fit.
I’ve also looked into the Enerwave smart energy duplex outlet, which is in-wall and Z-Wave, but it’s not officially supported by SmartThings. The model available in the app isn’t the energy-sensing version, which is a bit of a letdown. The Aeotec nano switch/dimmer is another possibility—it’s in-wall and Z-Wave, but again, no official support from SmartThings. I’m not sure if there’s even a custom DTH that includes energy features for it.
I’m really hoping the community can shed some light on this. Have I missed any devices that meet all my criteria? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
