Hi everyone, I’ve been a long-time user of Google Nest products, and one feature that’s always been a lifesaver is the shopping list functionality on the Nest Hub. It’s been such a reliable way to keep track of groceries and essentials, especially when I’m on the go. However, over the past few years, I’ve noticed a significant decline in its reliability, and it’s now become almost unusable for me. I’m hoping the community might have some insights or workarounds to help me get back to using this feature smoothly.
For years, adding items to my shopping list was as simple as saying, ‘Hey Google, add [item] to my shopping list.’ It was consistent and dependable. However, things started to go downhill after the switch to Google Keep. Now, when I try to add items, I often encounter one of three frustrating scenarios: the item is added correctly, the item is added with an incorrect phrasing, or the device responds by asking if I want to create a new list named ‘shopping list’ instead of recognizing the existing one.
The root of the problem seems to be related to translations, especially since I’m located in Sweden. The device often interprets my commands differently than expected, leading to these inconsistencies. For example, when I say, ‘Add apple juice to the shopping list,’ the Nest Hub correctly displays the command but sometimes adds ‘To the apple juice’ instead of just ‘apple juice.’ Other times, it completely misses the list name, which is frustrating.
I’ve tried various rewordings and multiple attempts, but the issue persists. It’s disheartening because this feature was a true ‘killer use case’ for me. While I still appreciate the other functionalities of the Nest Hub, the shopping list issue has dampened my enthusiasm.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems, especially in non-English speaking regions? I’d love to hear if there are any effective workarounds or solutions that others have discovered. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help, and I look forward to hearing from you!
