Hello everyone, I’m new to the Hubitat community and I’m really excited to start exploring all the possibilities it offers. I recently switched over from Wink and I’m in the process of setting up some smart home automation features. I wanted to share my experience and ask for some advice on a particular setup I’m working on.
I have a few Inovelli Red Series Dimmer switches, and I’m trying to set up notifications for my kitchen lights. The idea is that if any of the six recessed lights in my kitchen are turned on at less than 100% brightness between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, it should trigger a notification by turning on the master bedroom dimmer switch. I also want this to work in reverse, so when the kitchen lights are turned off, the notification turns off as well.
Here’s what my setup looks like:
- Kitchen Lights: Six recessed smart lights controlled by an Inovelli dimmer switch.
- Notification System: Master bedroom dimmer switch to indicate when the kitchen lights are on during nighttime hours.
I’ve managed to create a rule that triggers the notification when the kitchen lights are on, but I’m running into a couple of issues. First, I’m not sure if I need to create a separate rule to turn off the notification when the lights are turned off. I’ve read some threads about persistent notifications, but I’m still a bit confused about how to implement this properly.
Additionally, when I physically use the master bedroom switch, the notification goes away, but it doesn’t come back even though Hubitat shows the notification is still active. This is a bit frustrating because I want the system to be reliable and automatically respond to the kitchen lights being turned on or off.
I’ve included some screenshots of my current setup in the Hubitat app, but since I can’t attach images, I’ll describe them. The first image shows the rule I’ve set up for the kitchen lights, and the second one shows the notification settings for the master bedroom dimmer. I’ve tried adjusting the rules and settings, but I’m not quite getting the desired behavior.
If anyone has experience with setting up similar notifications or knows how to handle persistent notifications in Hubitat, I would really appreciate your guidance. I’m eager to learn and make this setup work smoothly!
Thank you in advance for your help and advice. I look forward to hearing from you!
