Setting Up Roomba 980 Rooms Without the Official App

Hey everyone, I recently came across a challenge when trying to set up rooms for my Roomba 980 without using the official Roomba app. I wanted to integrate it into my existing smart home ecosystem, but I wasn’t sure how to proceed. After some research and experimentation, I found a great solution using the Dorita980 library. I thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else is looking to do something similar!

First, I downloaded the Dorita980 library and set it up on my Raspberry Pi. It was pretty straightforward, and the documentation was really helpful. Once everything was installed, I started exploring the different commands and functionalities. I was amazed at how much control I could have over my Roomba without needing the official app!

To set up the rooms, I used a combination of the CLI commands and some custom scripts. I mapped out the different areas in my home and assigned each area a specific room name. Dorita980 allowed me to create virtual boundaries and even set up schedules for cleaning. It’s been a game-changer for keeping my home clean without constantly manually controlling the Roomba!

One thing I’d recommend is to test the integration thoroughly before relying on it completely. I had to tweak a few settings to ensure everything worked seamlessly with my other smart devices. But overall, the process was smooth, and I’m really happy with the results.

If anyone else has tips or tricks for setting up rooms without the official Roomba app, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s keep the smart home community growing and sharing knowledge.
