Setting Up Separate Security Zones for Home and Garage

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home security with my new SmartThings setup! I’ve got a garage sensor, a few Ewlink devices, and a Konnected alarm system with a Fire 7 tablet as the keypad. Everything’s been going smoothly so far, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag with setting up my security zones.

Here’s what I’m trying to achieve: I want my garage to be protected whether I’m home or away. Right now, the SmartThings Security app only has two modes—Stay and Away. Stay mode only protects the downstairs, while Away mode protects the whole house, including the garage. But what I really need is a way to have the garage protected on its own, especially during the day when I’m home but the garage might be open or accessible to others.

I thought about creating a second location or a new mode, but I’m not sure how that would work with the existing setup. Maybe I can use scene automation to trigger specific protections for the garage? I’ve heard about using virtual devices or additional sensors to create separate zones, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement that.

Has anyone else tackled a similar challenge? I’d love to hear about your setups and any tips or tricks you’ve discovered. I’m really excited about the possibilities here, and I’m hoping to find a solution that keeps my garage secure without compromising the rest of my home’s protection. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
