Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly PM Mini Gen.3 and how I’ve been able to use it to monitor and share energy usage with my neighbor. This setup has been a great way to foster community and promote energy awareness!
I recently installed the Shelly PM Mini in my garage to monitor the electricity consumption of some devices. After setting it up, I discovered the feature that allows sharing the device with other accounts. This immediately made me think of my neighbor who is also interested in tracking their energy usage but doesn’t have their own monitoring setup.
Here’s how I went about sharing the device:
- Creating a Family Account: I created a new family account within the Shelly app. This allowed me to invite my neighbor to join without them needing to create a separate account.
- Sharing the Device: Once the family account was set up, I shared the Shelly PM Mini with it. This was straightforward through the app’s settings.
- Access for My Neighbor: My neighbor installed the Shelly app on their phone and joined the family account. They now have full access to view the energy consumption data from the Shelly PM Mini.
- Setting Up Notifications: I also set up notifications for both of us to track any significant changes in energy usage, which has been helpful for identifying patterns or anomalies.
This setup has been a great way for both of us to monitor energy usage without the need for additional hardware. It’s also been a fun project to work on together, and we’ve been able to discuss ways to optimize our energy consumption based on the data we see.
I would love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has tips for sharing devices within a community! It’s been a positive experience for me, and I think it could be beneficial for others as well.
