Shelly 1 Fix and Successful Fountain Setup

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Shelly 1 and how I managed to resolve an issue that was quite frustrating at first. I’ve been using Shelly devices for my garden fountain, and it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup. The idea is simple: when my devices connect to the garden Wi-Fi network, the fountain starts, and when they disconnect, it turns off. It’s a neat way to conserve water and energy.

However, I encountered a problem where the Shelly unit would reboot constantly, which was quite perplexing. After some research, I came across a solution on a Facebook group where a user mentioned adding an RC filter (100nF/100Ω) between the output and neutral to prevent resonance issues caused by small loads like my fountain pump. This made a lot of sense, especially since the pump is a low-power device.

I decided to give it a try and ordered the filter from eBay. Once I installed it, the reboots stopped immediately, and the Shelly has been running smoothly ever since. It’s a simple fix that made a huge difference!

I’m really happy with how this setup is working now. The fountain adds a nice touch to my garden, and it’s automated in a way that’s both energy-efficient and user-friendly. I’d like to thank the community for sharing such valuable information and for the support that helps us all troubleshoot and improve our smart home setups. If anyone else is having similar issues, I highly recommend checking out the RC filter solution—it’s affordable and easy to implement.

Cheers to all the tinkerers out there who make our smart homes even smarter!
