Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success with setting up the Shelly 1 to control my garage door. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out!
Initially, I was able to get the garage door opening and closing using the Shelly 1, but determining the current status (open or closed) was a puzzle. I had the Sommer relay connected to the garage door motor, which was supposed to indicate the door’s status through its contacts. I tried various configurations in the Shelly app, but the status wasn’t updating as expected. Frustration set in as I scoured forums and documentation for clues.
After several days of trial and error, I decided to revisit the basics. I checked the wiring again, ensuring that the Sommer relay was correctly connected and that the Shelly 1 was properly configured. I also reset the device and reinstalled the latest firmware. Finally, I found that adjusting the input state settings in the Shelly app made all the difference. By selecting the appropriate input state identifier and ensuring the relay was correctly set up, the status updates started working seamlessly.
Now, I can monitor the garage door status from anywhere, and it integrates perfectly with my smart home setup. It’s such a relief to have this working, and I’m excited to explore more automation possibilities with my Shelly devices.
