I’ve recently started my journey into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting ride! I decided to begin with the Shelly 1 because it seemed like a great entry-level device for controlling my lights. After setting it up and integrating it with HomeKit, I was thrilled to see how seamlessly it worked with my existing ecosystem. However, there was one hiccup that I wanted to share and hopefully get some insights on.
When I first added the Shelly 1 to my HomeKit setup, I noticed that I had to press the light switch multiple times before the light would respond. At first, I thought it might be a connectivity issue, but after checking the firmware and ensuring everything was up to date, I realized it was more about the settings. I played around with the HAP service settings—specifically the Input Mode and Inverted Input—and finally found the right combination that made the switch respond on the first press. It was a bit frustrating at first, but solving it gave me a sense of accomplishment!
I’d love to hear from others who have integrated Shelly devices into their HomeKit setups. Have you encountered similar issues, and if so, how did you resolve them? I’m also curious about best practices for optimizing these devices for a smooth user experience. Here’s to many more successful integrations and less troubleshooting! ![]()
