Hey everyone, I’m encountering an issue with my Shelly 1PM Gen4 device when connected via Matter to Google Home. The device consistently appears as a sensor instead of a light, which is quite frustrating. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Device Type Setting: I set the device type to “light” in the Shelly mobile app, but it didn’t make a difference.
- Consumption Type: I also tried changing the “Consumption type” in the Shelly web UI to “light,” but this field seems more related to energy monitoring.
- Multiple Attempts: I’ve added the device to Google Home over 10 times, and only twice did it initially show up as a light. Unfortunately, it reverted to a sensor after about 24 hours.
Questions:
- How does Google Home determine the device type for Matter relays?
- Is there a reliable way to ensure the Shelly 1PM Gen4 is recognized and stays as a light in Google Home?
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! Let’s figure this out together.
