Shelly 2.5 Integration with Warema Sunshade System

I’ve been working on integrating my Warema sunshade system with a Shelly 2.5 to make it smarter, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips in case others are looking to do something similar. While the process had its challenges, the result has been fantastic!

Initially, I was a bit confused about how the Shelly 2.5 would interact with my existing setup. The Warema system uses a 24V connection with a double-pole switch, and I wanted the Shelly to essentially mimic the switch’s functionality. After some research, I understood that the Shelly can be placed between the switch and the motor, acting as an intermediary that sends signals to the motor when triggered via the app or voice commands.

However, my first attempt didn’t go smoothly. I installed the Shelly as per the diagram I found, but it wasn’t detected in the app. I started questioning whether I had the right setup or if the Shelly needed additional power. After some troubleshooting, I realized that the Shelly requires a separate 230V power supply to function properly, which I hadn’t accounted for initially. Once I adjusted the wiring to include the power supply, the Shelly came online without any issues.

One thing I’d recommend to others is to ensure that all connections are secure and that the Shelly is correctly powered. Also, checking the firmware version of the Shelly and updating it if necessary can prevent unexpected issues. I also found that testing each component individually before integrating them helps identify any potential problems early on.

Now that everything is up and running, controlling my sunshades has never been easier. I can adjust them from the comfort of my couch or even while I’m away, which is a huge convenience. It’s been a rewarding project, and I’m excited to explore more automation possibilities with my Shelly setup!

If anyone else is working on a similar project or has questions about integrating Shelly devices with existing systems, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share more details or help troubleshoot any issues!
