Shelly 2.5 Roller Shade Controller with Additional Switches

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly 2.5 roller shade controller and additional switches. I recently installed this setup in my home, and it’s been a great addition to my smart home system. However, I encountered an interesting issue that I thought might be helpful to discuss here.

Initially, everything worked perfectly. I set up the Shelly 2.5 to control my roller shades, and the additional switches I connected allowed me to manually operate the shades. It was a seamless integration, and I was quite impressed with how smoothly everything functioned.

But then, a few weeks later, my wife noticed that the switches stopped working. The Shelly app still allowed us to control the shades remotely, but the physical switches were no longer responsive. This was a bit puzzling, as there were no obvious signs of malfunction. The connections seemed intact, and the Shelly device itself was functioning correctly.

I decided to troubleshoot the issue. First, I checked the wiring between the Shelly and the switches. Everything appeared to be in order, so I moved on to testing the switches themselves. I replaced the switches with new ones, hoping that might resolve the problem. Unfortunately, the new switches exhibited the same behavior—no response when pressed.

This led me to consider the possibility of a software issue or a configuration problem. I revisited the Shelly app to ensure that the device was properly configured and that there were no pending updates or firmware issues. Everything seemed up to date, so I was a bit stuck.

After some research, I came across a forum post suggesting that the Shelly 2.5 might have a sensitivity setting for the input signals from the switches. I adjusted the sensitivity settings in the app, and to my delight, the switches began working again! It turned out that the default sensitivity was too low for the switches I was using, causing them to be unresponsive.

This experience taught me the importance of thoroughly exploring all settings and configurations, even for devices that initially seem to work perfectly. It also highlighted the value of community forums, where users can share their experiences and troubleshooting tips.

I hope this story helps anyone else who might be experiencing similar issues with their Shelly devices. If you’re having trouble with additional switches or sensors, don’t hesitate to check the sensitivity settings or reach out to the community for advice.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing about your experiences with Shelly devices!
